Met Gala 2014 Red Carpet Looks

There may not have been a cohesive theme at 2014 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute gala but there were plenty of contenders for best dressed. For pure glamour, it’s a toss-up between Amy Adams and Taylor Swift, both of whom wore Oscar de la Renta gowns with bustle-like skirts, similar to the sheaths with emphatic bursts of tulle pioneered by Charles James, the mid-century Anglo-American couturier whose work the Costume Institute is celebrating. Emmy Rossum’s bright yellow floral strapless Caroline Herrera also had a fetchingly vintage feel.

WWD Bridal Market Interview

The arrival of spring in New York City was the perfect season for bridal market. WWD reports live from all of the shows at this years market.

WWD describes the Carolina Herrera collection stating, “The collection highlighted layering lace treatment and silk silhouettes. Herrera placed a greater emphasis on the design of the back of the gowns with plunging lines and elegant appliques.”

As I expressed while interviewed by WWD, Camille Russler, who has owned Ever After Miami for 12 years, enthused about the abundance of soft, sensual deconstructed dresses for spring. “Each designer really kept a sense of their own signature. Vera Wang’s film was very on point as to who her customer is. Oscar showed us lots of new necklines, Carolina’s use of layering lace and embroideries was really beautiful.” said Russler, naming Ines Di Santo, Reem Acra and Ulla-Maija as few other favorites.

Reem Acra Bridal Spring/Summer 2015 About the Collection

This collection Reem Acra mixed and matched many shapes and different fabrics more so than any other collection of hers. So lovely, Reem Acra stuck to her soft silhouettes and embroideries. Her embroideries are historically know, but this collection was different the embroideries looked almost painted onto the body, it was so romantic and feminen. This collation was about being light weight like air, and it showed on the runway. Very couture like, and well studied, this collection looked far from just put together.
